Our Challenge

In 2026, less than 15 years from now, the total population of the United States will exceed 360 million people – the vast majority of whom will likely not be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. More discouraging, the growth of the general population continues to accelerate at a faster rate than that of the Church. Our challenge is that Christianity in the United States is in danger of losing ground quickly – and with that, a generation of souls. If the Church in North America is going to seriously pursue every man, woman, and child, the time for decisive action is now.

There is hope. Likely there are more than 30 million North Americans, or about 10% of the population, who are in a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ and who, in varying degrees, are attempting to orient their lives around a biblical worldview. In addition, the U.S. is currently home to somewhere between 200,000 and 300,000 protestant church fellowships. Both of these facts reveal a large, though somewhat dormant, Christian infrastructure. Our opportunity exists in activating and unifying a significant portion of the existing Christian presence around the mission of God, exponentially multiplying the evangelistic activity and effectiveness of the Church across the United States.

The Christ Together website outlines a conceptual framework and strategic blueprint for how to catalyze the Church around every man, woman, and child. An organic movement, centered in the person of Jesus, anchored in a common vision, connected through relationships, unified around our God-given purpose, and decentralized to every level of geography, has the very real potential to “go viral” and to infect the Church in every pocket of our country. Change can happen. The tide can be turned. We can see God move in ways many of us never imagined possible.

As daunting as our challenge may seem, our greatest obstacle is not in the number of people yet to be reached. Nor is it the enormous number of churches and Christians needing help to do what God wants them to do. Rather, it is in finding a small group of leaders who, like the biblical men of Issachar, both understood their times and what to do about it (1 Chronicles 12:32). Our prayer is that this group of leaders will be like those men – and that, together, we will not only embrace God’s vision, but begin to move so as to see His vision become a reality.

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strongly support those whose hearts are fully committed to Him”
—2 Chronicles 16:9a
